Built in the 1800s, this precious Victorian cottage has been just completely restored by its loving, owner. Retaining the historic character but including modern comforts took vigilance and ingenuity on the part of new owner, Patty Marino. After a day of sightseeing, relax in the library with a good book chosen from Patty’s collection or just relax in the sitting room of the home. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Your host’s patio is a great place to enjoy her container garden that focuses on indigenous tropical plants. Nearby Frenchmen Street bustles with night life offering music to suit any ear, cuisines offering everything from local to international flavors, superb coffeehouses and even a tattoo parlor for the ultimate souvenir. Visit our premier Jazz venue, Snug Harbor to see Charmaine Neville or members of the Marsalis family, or one of the many other music clubs or restaurants. The Bijou Bed and Breakfast is 1/2 block to public transportation. The Riverfront Streetcar make this location convenient to the Morial Convention Center and the business district. Just a short stroll and the history and excitement of the French Quarter awaits. Your host, Patty, returned to college at 40 years old completing her Bachelors in French. After teaching elementary and high school, she began to concentrate on her dream of owning a bed and breakfast. She has owned a home on Bourbon Street for the last 10 years and loves to share her knowledge of special “local favorites” including hot spots for great food and music. Guests love to chat with her about things to do in New Orleans. Comfortable bedrooms have private baths with charming antique claw foot tubs with showers. Each guest room has available a private entrance from the courtyard. Continental breakfast and conversation are shared in the inviting breakfast area. Local ordinance limits us to continental breakfast only. Smokers are asked to step outside, please, as there is no smoking in any inside rooms. Children 15 and older are welcome.
